I truly do not have words to describe how special this dog. Hazel is as close to perfect as they come. She is a try anything and do everything kind of dog and puts her whole heart into whatever the game is. She is biddable, eager, and level headed with the kind of work ethic that you expect and want to see in a border collie. She does not get her feelings hurt easily - she accepts corrections well and then is ready to go again.
In agility she is fast, LOUD and accurate - she is the kind of dog that you would stop to watch
She will try anything I ask of her and has trained or competed in barnhunt, lure coursing, disc and dock diving - all of which she loves!
On stock Hazel has nice flanks and a steady even pace. She has a nice natural outrun and balance when fetching and is generally kind to her stock.
She is happy and friendly in a very confident way without being too much and is environmentally stable and non reactive in all situations. Because of her wonderful temperament with both people and dogs, she is my go to demo dog for the group obedience classes I teach and my private lessons with anxious or reactive dogs. She enjoys loud noises like gun shots and fireworks and shows her enthusiasm by barking.
Hazel has been spayed and retired from breeding.
Fall 2020 Hazel was diagnosed with blastomycosis, which is a fungal infection that she picked up in the soil somewhere. She had her right eye removed from complications from the infection. She is blasto free now and living her best life.
